About this twenty-five minute timer
This twenty-five-minute countdown runs entirely in your browser. The classic Pomodoro interval for a single focused work session. There is nothing to install, nothing to sign up for, and no data is uploaded when you start, pause, or reset.
The twenty-five-minute interval is the core unit of the Pomodoro Technique, a time-management method developed in the late 1980s. The idea is simple: pick one task, work on it for twenty-five uninterrupted minutes, then take a short break. Most people can sustain focused attention for roughly that long before diminishing returns set in, and the definite end point makes it easier to start in the first place.
Use this timer for a single Pomodoro. When it ends, stop working, stand up, and rest your eyes for three to five minutes before starting another round. The full Pomodoro guide covers how to plan your day around these intervals and how to adjust the length if twenty-five minutes is too short or too long for you.
How to use this timer
- Press Start (or the spacebar) to begin the countdown.
- Press Pause (or the spacebar again) to hold the current time.
- Press Reset (or the R key) to return to 25:00.
- When the timer ends, a short tone plays. Click, tap, or press any key to stop it.
- Use the sound toggle to mute the alert — your preference is remembered on this device.
Tips for accurate timing
- Keep this tab visible. Modern browsers slow down background tabs to save power, which can delay the end alert.
- On mobile, keep the screen awake or plug the device in for long sessions.
- For anything safety-critical, use your device's built-in system timer rather than a web page.
